How do I attract bees. Last year I planted flowers, herbs, and vegetables that were supposed to attract bees. We also had flowering bushes and wildflowers. No bees. We live between Falcon and Peyton south of Hwy 24 about 5 miles. Thank; you.

Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to prune our pear and apple trees now (April 28 to May 5). The have buds, and today the buds are open! We have espalier apple trees that need heavy pruning. Can I do it now? I would also like to spray organic pesticides (mixture of neem oil, Epson salt, yogurt, effective microbes, and molasses) can I do it now? Buds have opened, is that okay? I continually have these blotches on on my sorrel. Originally I thought it was a fungus, but now assume it is insect damage although it doesn't leave an identified trail? Am I right, and what can be done organically?

I have been slowly been reviving 7 neglected apple trees. Last year the apples were attacked by thousands of bees. They ruined most of the apples on the trees. I am not sure how to go about protecting the apples from these pests. I avoid pesticides although there are other pests also. Due to the variety of apples the season runs from late July into the first couple of frosts.

Last summer, our peach tree, which had previously been fruitful, didn't produce any fruit. It may have been affected by a late frost or a disease, as it developed brownish spots and holes on its leaves, similar to spot hole disease seen in online photos. We didn't treat it last year. This year, I want to prevent any potential fungal diseases before the buds open. I need expert advice on the tree's current health and whether it needs treatment before spring and summer. Attached photos show gummy discharge, white substances on the bark, and some bark cracks. The tree, about 7-8 years old, is in full sun. Thank you in advance! Jonathan

This tree didn't bloom or leaf out properly this year. There are no leaves on the leader and there are white wormlike projections from the trunk bark. We think it may be fungal dieback. We plan to remove the tree. Any other suggestions about how to purify or treat the soil to prevent spread to other nearby trees.

Euonymus leaf-notcher invasion … second year. #865871

I’m in north-east Baltimore city. Spring 2023 two euonymus tall trees plus one shrub were invaded by leaf-notcher caterpillars. I was not able to remove eggs or afford professional help so, unfortunately the critters came back. There are many similar trees & shrubs in my neighborhood…two yards away are several 14 foot tall trees and they are not yet affected. I had my backyard 16 foot tall, broad canopy tree cut down and removed two side trunks from other tree near the front of the house. The remaining tree and the shrub are virtually denuded of leaf. I don’t know if I should maintain these infected plants - they may recover over the summer but I think next year will be the same and I worry for my neighborhood. Any thoughts? I’m writing also to alert you that these invaders have arrived this far north. Thank you for any suggestions. (I am on a limited income, have been taking care of my own property for over two decades but can no longer climb ladders to prune or protect as I used to do.) PS: I could send photos but have to ask for family help - I don’t know how to attach them. ‍

For the first few years, the pears from my tree were small however looked fine. The past couple years the pears are deformed. I don't know if an insect is creating the misshapen and diseased-looking pears of if it is a disease. What can I do to have healthy pears? Thank you.

Good Morning, Starting last year, we have been infested with hundreds of harmless- but very annoying box elder bugs. It seems to coincide with neighbors on both sides of us cutting down trees in their backyards (just my guess that now these bugs have nowhere else to live?) I spray daily with soap water and Maggie’s Farm 3-in-1 garden spray. I’m not sure what other options I have? It doesn’t seem to make sense to have a company come and spray- since the bugs are living on our neighbor’s houses. We live in a row home in Waterside, Frederick. Hello, I just read a question that describes exactly what I have been going through- a little more than 6 months ago, I started experiencing an infestation of some sort. To describe the appearance- would be black and white specks that are in my hair and skin- some look like grains of salt, some just like the black dot of a pen. They come out of my skin when k shower and multiply throughout the day- the laundry does not remove them and any new environment I enter, they immediately dissipate and begin to infest clothing and carpets. They live on my phone, and in my bags and I can see them hoo to other people. Bloodwork has been completed and getting more ordered due to suspicion of autoimmune disease. This is not a hereditary issue. High white bc count. Swollen ankles and feet- tingling and numbness when I touch them. Itching and stinging when on my clothing. At the end of the day I will have to shower for a long time to remove most build up of them on my skin and hair. They are in my car and will hop on my outfit in the morning. They will rip and pull the strings out of fabrics and leave white animal looking hairs in environment. I do not have a pet. Holes in clothing and strings hanging. They will rip at my nails and leave them brittle. My quality of life is barely there. Please help

I was cleanning out the kiddie pool my dogs use & while doing so, I found this bug in thr pool & was concerned it was a tick. But every search image generator label it as a water beetle that are not in Oregon. I could be wrong but figured I'd contact someone someone more educated about insects than me. I still have it in a closed container, but I killed it with rubbing alcohol. I won't provide my whole address as stated above, but I'm located outside of city limits of Sweet Home.

We moved to this home 3 years ago. There were 3 Pines ( not sure but some kind of white pine?) in this area, 2 turned brown and died the year we moved here. The previous owner said he had two others that died in same spot the year before and said he thought because it was too wet, but if it is why did one live? Do you recommend we replace with two of the same or something totally different. We would like whatever we plant here to be about 8 feet tall. We have not tested the soil. It is facing North.

Gladstone Michigan area Maple Tree Disease or Insect Damage #865776

Hello there. We live in Gladstone Michigan, which is on the west North corner of Lake Michigan. I believe it to be Zone 5 or 5A. We are on a 0.8 Acre moderately wooded residential lot. The mix of species is mostly oak and Maple. There are presently two sets of medium aged to mature maple trees with what appears to be the same disease, or pests. One set died over a 1.5 to 2 year period, and the other appears to have the same problem. Wood peckers are feeding on something in the bark, but all I can find is a small green worm, and only two of those. I am attaching several jpegs, in hopes they could you help identify the issue so we can react accordingly. As an example, when I cut them down can we use the fire wood or should I get it off the property all together. Plus,... are we subject to spread to other maples on the lot.??? Best regards... Karl

I would love to plant a crape myrtle in my yard. But "Fast Growing Trees" (they have a lot of them) cannot sell to Oregon due to agricultural restrictions. Why is this? Are we worried about the import of a disease? What disease?

Live in Harford County, MD. and for 2 years have had a grub infestation. Can I reseed in the Spring and spray for the grubs in early June? My lawn service told me not to spray for the grubs until June.
