  • Tree watering bags in freezing weather #889974

    We have eight newly planted trees in our yard. They are around eight feet tall at this time. We have been using watering bags, since we went through such a dry spell after they were planted. With winter coming on, freezing weather likely, and the trees becoming eventually dormant, should I remove the water bag and store them inside until the trees bud in the spring? Partly to protect the bags, which I can't imagine will do well in freezing conditions.

    Hello I am currently a IT major . Honestly I have always had an interest in farming and agriculture but never really saw a opportunity to really explore that interest my plan was to work in the computer field and make enough to be able to get a farm eventually. Now that I am in the classes for a while I have come to realize that is it not at all my interest and want to possible change my career path earlier and thought a good first step was asking questions.

    I'd like to plant a hedge along the front of my property. I'm not sure how far out my drain field extends. Is there a way to figure that out? Would it be safe to plant forsythia near the end of it? Other hedge option?

    Hi, lookingvat purchasing a lot for home construction in Charlevoix County, Norwood township. Backhoe excavation 15 yrs ago shows topsoil 1 ft, 1 to 3 feet loam and sandy clay 3-6 ft clay loam. I have read about expanding clay soils in other parts of the country, but wanted to see if this should be a concern in this location. Maps I have seen on internet of Michigan show less likely to have this clay type. What is known about soils in this area? Should I get soil further tested?

    I have an arrowhead plant that it's wrapping its leaves tightly around its stump. It has not done it before, any suggestions on what might be causing it? Not all of the leaves are affected.
