Tree watering bags in freezing weather #889974

We have eight newly planted trees in our yard. They are around eight feet tall at this time. We have been using watering bags, since we went through such a dry spell after they were planted.
With winter coming on, freezing weather likely, and the trees becoming eventually dormant, should I remove the water bag and store them inside until the trees bud in the spring? Partly to protect the bags, which I can't imagine will do well in freezing conditions.

Hi,
Yes, it would probably be best to remove them. They may not hold up well through the winter. If you need to water through the winter, just laying the hose at the base or filling a 5 gallon bucket a few times is sufficient. If we have periods of little rain and the ground isn't frozen, you should still water your trees.

Thank you!
