    I am an employee in the Ohio State Farm Service Age3ncy Office in Columbus, Ohio. I have a request to establish mortality rates for Elderberries, Chokeberries, Chestnuts, and Pawpaws for Ohio. We have particularly hit in Northeastern Ohio, but the request has come in for the entire State. Is there any information you can share to help the Ohio FSA State Committee establish mortality rates for the 4 types of crops listed?

    I tried calling the hotline last week and this morning and it is always going to fax. Isn't this number not supposed to be connected to a fax???? When is the best time to transplant iliacs--please provide transplanting details. When should peonies be cut back? Some of mine have not turned brown yet.

    Privet Fall leaf problem #890630

    I’m a certified arborist pruning a large Privet hedge. Much of the hedge, especially where the leaves are starting to change color, are showing signs of stress on the leaves, appearing like scorch or blight or some kind of insect. Is this a problem that needs to be followed up on or indicates stress of the plants will see during the spring and summer, or is this a problem on my phone to the category of general late season leaf lights that do not need to be addressed? What is the likely cause?

    Oregon Grape leaf buds? #890629

    In early October, we transplanted a few mature Oregon Grapes and two of the three immediately did well. The third, and biggest, one dropped several leaves soon after the move though so I worried it was stressed. However it still kept most of its leaves and today I noticed what appear to be buds on the end of each of its long stems, with what appear to be new leaves emerging. Is this a typical behavior for a mature Oregon Grape? Any idea why it’s doing this in December? I assume to replace the ones it lost but wasn’t sure. Thank you for your help!

    Seed/ gardening journal suggestions #890626

    I really enjoy growing vegetables and flowers. I really enjoy seed saving. Each year I look back on what I grew and find myself wishing I had a good system to record my thoughts. Is there a journal for sale or a blog that lays out a good journal method that you recommend? I would like for it to cover many years and be a quick reference to what I grew last year with notes on what worked. Also a spot for seeds saving. Maybe someone has made templates for a printable journal? I’ve been looking online but haven’t had any luck. Thanks for all your hard work!

    I am renting a kitchen with a small office space that is not deemed a commercial kitchen. I want to sell homemade foods that are take away. I believe it falls within the guidelines for the homemade food bill as long as I post an easy to view sign sharing the statute, my name, address, phone number, and possible allergens. Am I correct?

    Mockberry with Rust? #890623

    I lost most of my grass in the drought this summer, and the mockberry took over. I removed two established new england aster earlier this year which both had a rust problem. Cleaning up after the dog today, I saw this on the mockberry in the "lawn". Is this rust?

    Black spots on leaves of a Meyer Lemon plant #890621

    Every fall, when I bring in my Meyer Lemon plant, the leaves develop spots and fall off to the point that there are almost no leaves left in April, when I move the plant outside. Then the leaves return, but all of the tiny fruit drop off the leaves. Attached are photos of a leaf (top and bottom). What can I do? Do I need to use a systemic pesticide/fungide?
