I am a MG, working on a library pollinator garden. We have a block of milkweed, about 13’ x 15’, that is bounded on 3 sides by asphalt/concrete, and the 4th side is grass that gets mowed. Our milkweed is looking really poorly right now: leaves are mostly gone, stems are turning brown. The milkweed in my field at home is still green and has lots of leaves. My working theory is that the plot at the library is basically pot-bound. I am thinking I may dig into that plot in the spring, and remove some of the root mass, to invigorate the plot. Does this sound like a reasonable theory and solution? Any other input would be appreciated. Thanks
