Could This Be Horsetail? #150864

A gentleman brought in what is believe to be "Horsetail", but he wants to know for sure that is what it is.  He also wants to know how to get rid of it.  Currently it is growing right on his sandy beach area; it is not growing in the water.  This past Spring he said this was not growing in his sandy beach area, but rather there were a lot of what looked like to be mushrooms.  They were about 1-3 inches tall, not very big and the cap was about the size of a dime.  Then as they died out/disappeared, then in came this green weed like growing.  He would like to get rid of it, but does not want to do anything that would harm the environment, especially being it is close to the water.

Can a home in Minneapolis get a termite infestation? I have always heard it is too cold, but I have found a brown corner pile at the front interior of my house that look like the pictures of termite evidence. However, the pile is very sawdust-like, and does not have any pieces that look like fecal droppings.

I have several burrows between the boulders in a retaining wall supporting a garden pond, which I believe are from Cicada Killers. Is it possible they would dig to a point of undermining the pond floor? I can live with the dirt piles if that's the worst that will happen...

Hello, I was just outside my house with my small dog (it was 10 pm) when she started running for the house and I saw what appeared to be a 4 or 5 inch dragonfly attacking her! It was buzzing very loudly, and the dragonfly kept at her until I got closer. Poor dog was scared to death, is this normal behavior for a dragonfly at night? Could I have seen something else that would behave this way? Thank you! Meg, a frightened little dog's mom......

Some of our impatiens are either looking very sick or dying. Late last winter I was reading about a new problem with impatiens called downy mildew. Could this be our problem. Has it been found in the twin cities yet?
