Want to grow garlic in a greenhouse (more a large cold frame) this winter. What would be the best cultivar for the coast? Lincoln Co. Waldport area Thanks for any information.

This bush was planted in 2005. My question is, is there hope that it can live? It looked like it had more dead branches last year, but this year seems to be a little fuller. I have tried to clear some of the dead limbs out. What type of bush is it? Who could I call to assist with your recommendations? Thanks, Wanda

Hi, My tomatoes are not ripening, and I have noticed that the vines are not as vigorous as last year. The cultivar is Park’s Whopper Improved. (indeterminate, 65-70 days maturity after transplant). - Before planting added 4” of leaf compost (leaf-gro) to top 12” of soil. -Transplanted 06/04/23 added mycorrhiza to hole. -First few weeks fertilized with liquid Miracle-Gro Quick-Start (4-12-4). -Pinched first flowers to encourage growth. - 6 1/2 weeks after transplant side dressed with 4-5-3 (organic) as first fruits appeared (7/25/23) - Drip irrigation 2”/week trying to keep soil consistently moist. -Recent soil test by U. Delaware shows plenty (even excessive) P, K, Ca, Mg, and micronutrients. It has been almost a month since fruit first set and 77 days since transplant. And, as I said, the vines do not look that vigorous. I am wondering whether I need to add N. If this is the case, for a quick boost, should I use urea or blood meal? Thank you!

Hi! There is a suspicious-looking spider living between the storm windows of my condo. She looks just like a black widow but is missing the tell-tale red spot. Is this likely a false widow spider or do some black widows not have red markings? I think both are rare in Multnomah county, so I thought I should reach out.

I dug up one potato plant because I wanted to use some, and the potatoes looked very nice, tasted good, and were very firm but less than 2 weeks later I went to use the rest and they were very soft. I had left them outside to dry for a few days and then brought them in the house-they were stored in a dark place but not cool. Can you tell me why this happened? Is it just because it was too early to harvest them for storage? I am concerned that this will happen to the whole crop when I do dig them up. Thank you

I have a 5 year old raspberry row. Canes don't grow as thick as the old row. The row looks good in the spring and then some canes will turn brown before the fruit can ripen. I remove the diseased cane. Every year the same thing happens. Do I have raspberry virus? If so, how to manage? Should I remove this row and plant another next spring in a slightly different area?
