Hi, I have already had one giant arborvitae die this summer (see picture of brown tree). The other 3 were looking good but now they are showing signs of distress (see other pics). Do you know what the problem is and if I can save them? I'm thinking they either need more or water or a good treatment of Hollytone? Or is this a type of disease? Please help, this is a screen in my back yard. Thanks, Matt

I just harvested some big bluestem seed heads, how and when should I sow them?

We got a japanese lilac from the city a couple years ago and it's had a plastic tube wrapped around the bottom 2' or so ever since we got it, which it's now outgrown. 1) we've noticed a ton of bark peeling/missing in long strips not only behind where the plastic tube is but higher on the tree as well. The leaves still look fine to our untrained eyes. We've given the tree an hour or more of water at least once a month during dry spells. Is this a pest? disease? Reaction to drought? Do we need to do anything to help our tree or (god forbid) do we need to chop it down due to untreatable condition? We assume the rough peeled/missing bark is not a good thing but not clear if the tree can recover and how long it may take. 2) Should we be using the plastic guard around the bottom 2-3' of trunk still? We bought a larger one so it doesn't make contact anymore. Or is this only for winter time to cut down on desperate bunnies and squirrels chewing on it?

Is there a way to either confirm or rule out verticillium wilt on an ash tree? Upper branches have leaf curl and browning - almost like firelight. I don't have a good way to get a picture-the affected branches are in the upper canopy.

These are the pictures of client's weeping willow tree. It has done this for the last three summers. They tried spraying it with a fungicide but it didn’t seem to help. As you can see from the last picture there isn’t much foliage left .

I have tried for 3 years to grow a bee friendly lawn which incorporates fescue, self heal, thyme, clover and yak yarrow to no avail. The thyme is healthy, but nothing else seems to make it through the hot summers even though I water. I am thinking of seeding now . Can I do this? Will the above plants survive if I do this? What grass would you recommend for a sunny lawn that would also be appropriate for a bee lawn?
