I work for Corvallis Urban Forestry. Many concerns are being raised about the presence of Emerald Ash Borer in Oregon from city entities and community members. I'm looking to find valid, research based answers to different questions about EAB. Specifically I'm wanting to understand the long term environmental effects the beetle will have on our natural areas and waterways. The biggest question I'd like help answering from all of you is what kind of mortality rate the beetles presence will have on the Oregon Ash, Fraxinus latifolia. Is this topic something someone in this department could help me find quality information on?

How much residual glyphosate remains in the soil after glyphosate is sprayed? #863516

Our garden space was sprayed with Roundup or glyphosate by landscapers who didn’t know the garden was organic. He was spraying the cover crop and just thought he was getting rid of weeds. Glyphosate breaks down into residual product, too. What can we do to eliminate the chemical? It is not possible to move the garden plot. Is sugar or unsulfered molasses a solution? How much? How often?

New pear tree issue #794745

We bought a new pear tree in Gervais, that has spots on the leaves. The person who sold it to us said she thought it was from the weather, too much rain. She suggested that we pick off the leaves, so I have been picking them off and throwing them in the garbage. We live in Mill City. We planted the tree about a week ago and I am still seeing some leaves with what looks like a scab. I will attach a couple of pictures.

Our lawn appeared to go dormant due to very dry weather, we got a few good rains and it greened up for a few weeks. However, now it looks dead or dormant again but in spots not previously stressed. Everything I read basically says to wait til Spring. Is there any other test or way to confirm exactly what is going on? thanks Kay Frey
