Hi, I have a neighbor with a veal barn on around an acre that sits up against our front pasture. The wind direction takes the smell towards our house and it's noticeable about a third to half of the time we're outdoors. I read that there were new veal barn spacing requirements in the Ohio Revised Code to take effect December 31, 2017 and I was wondering: 1. If that applies to all existing veal barn setups (as opposed to new builds) or if some barns can maintain their current practices for a certain period. 2. If new regulations would likely require reconfiguration / modification / expansion of current barns to meet new specs 3. If in your opinion new animal spacing requirements would likely reduce the smell due to less crowding I don't want my neighbor to undertake a large capital expenditure to modify their barn if I can possibly work something out with them, but I haven't approached them about that yet. Annual for east side of house #397590

What are a couple of options for an annual on east side of house, full morning to mid-day sun. Preferably grow to 24 inches. Also, be nice if rabbits did not like to eat. I will once again plant marigolds in front ( west facing bed ) as they did well last year and rabbits left them alone . . this is my second summer in rental. Thank you Thanks

I was curious if fig tree would grow around the Cottage Grove area, I am hoping to start an orchard within a couple years and was interested in figs. I've heard that some varieties do just fine here in Oregon, however there are some people that say figs will die if temperatures go below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Any information regarding the difficulties if any, would be great. Thank you for your time.

Ash Tree and the Emerald Ash Borer #389073

I live outside of Morrison (SE) in unincorporated Jefferson County and have a mature Green Ash about 80" around the trunk at 4.5' in height. I was wondering if I should be concerned about the Emerald Ash Borer yet and if I should treat my tree this spring. I understand the Emerald Ash Borer has been contained to the Boulder County area, but I'm wondering if there is a great potential that it could infest my tree too. I've used a concentrated product with Imidacloprid in it over the past couple years and wonder if it's a good option for prevention or if it's even necessary at this time.  Thanks.

Seed germination rates down in 2016? #387185

I've noticed my germination rates are down in general.  I live in Boulder. Another friend has observed the same.  Have you seen this happen elsewhere?  Any ideas for things to try?
