A MN local tree arborist suggested injections of Kelp in the soil around my three 150+ year oak trees to provide help to the roots for better water intake. Specifically: promotes root growth and enhances stress tolerance in trees and shrubs. I'm not familiar with this suggestion. Is this legit?

Greetings - I hope you can help. My rose bush is a baby from 175yr old bush. It’s been in my garden for 5yrs. I spray it 2 times per year with Bayer 3-in-1 insect, disease, & mite control. This summer after a full bloom, I saw little string/webs, esp on new growth. The leaves turned red with brittle edges (summer not fall). I sprayed again with 3-in-1 (bottle is about 6 years old, maybe expired?). Rose did not significantly improve. I sprayed Neem oil - no change. Sprayed 3-in-1 again. The entire bush is affected. Since the weather turned, I see one sprig of healthy-looking new growth. Does this support my mite/insect theory? * I think my blueberry & serviceberry bushes may also have the same pest/problem. - Is there anything I can do this fall to help eradicate the problem? - Should I dramatically cut back my rose this fall? (currently 5ft tall & 4.5ft wide). - I usually do some minor pruning in spring & fall but no special preparation for winter. - What should I do in the spring? Thank you!

Ok I have 7 pots of amaryllis that were outside all summer. Many of them have healthy green leaves and I wonder if they need to dieback before the new shoot will emerge. Now they are in a window. I brought them in 10 days ago so they had time on north deck in cold weather. These are quality bulbs. Thanks

How short should you cut your grass for the last time before winter?

Hello, I have been a beekeeper in Leelanau County for five years. One of my hives had an ant problem this summer. I put cinnamon on the corners of the hive cover. When I went to harvest the honey in October, all the honey in the super above the queen excluder had been eaten out and tiny eggs laid. There were tiny bites in the wax as if they ate through capped honey, ate the honey and left tiny white eggs. Could ants have done this? See pictures. All the bees were dead or gone. No evidence of what insect did this.

See the photos. I have a tulip poplar in my yard that has a beehive that is maybe almost 3 feet long. Will these bees make it through the winter? Will they harm the tree? I need to have some trimming done on the tree because some branches are in danger of falling. When will it be safe to work on the tree without fear of bee attacks?
