Good morning My name is Peter Kugler. We live just south of Springfield Ore, in the Jasper Road area. We live on 30 acres of land that was logged about 8 years ago, replanted and then sold to us. It is a predominatly a south acing property. My question is what to do with the big leaf maple that are coming back with a vengeance ! The big leaf that are growing back are coming back in clumps of multiple trunks, see the pic below for an example. I don't want to get rid of them, we love the colors in the fall, but do I need to be trimming them back to jsut one or two trunks? I have been looking for some resources such as books on how to deal with the Maples but everything I see is geared towards nursery bought trees. Any ligature you might know of that address this and youcould direct me towards would be great. Thanks for any advise you can provide. Peter Kugler

Hi there - I live in southern NH and have a beautiful dwarf weeping cherry. I know it needs pruning, but I'm getting conflicting information online. Do I prune it now, in the fall, or right after it blooms in the spring. I know I need to take off dead wood and crossed branches, and keep the weepers off the ground, but am not sure about timing. I live in Edgewater Maryland and our community has a problem with bamboo in one of our open spaces. It was allowed to grow when the community was first established. The community hired someone to cut the bamboo down but I recalled learning in Master Gardener training that it only will spread underground and grow elsewhere…which it does. A We’re reluctant to use weed killer such as roundup for obvious reasons. We are trying to clear the lot of stones and debris so the lot can be mowed but I am unsure this will work. I fear it will just spread elsewhere. I am a lapsed master gardener because I have been away for 7 years and I may not be aware of new ways to get around a bamboo affliction….any advice will be greatly appreciated.

There are odd marks on the branches of my Patton Tree. They are on so many branches that it caught my attention. Some of the branches have also curled. I have attached photos. This tree has not bloomed or provided fruit for 5 years. It is about 17 years old. Please get back to me. This is the second time I am sending in the request. I assume I did something incorrect last time.
