Asked November 03, 2024, 9:25 PM EST

I noticed the attached pics of these bushes which I think are yews have some yellowish foliage. What is the issue and should I ally something this month?

Expert Response

The bushes are Dwarf Korean Boxwood purchased in 2016.

They are on the west north west side of the house

Hi,

These look like a type of Boxwood, maybe a variety called Green Pillow? They do look a little off color. You could do a soil test and should get results back in a few weeks. However, this time of year, you wouldn't supplement any nutrients going into winter and a dormant season. Once the soil test report is returned, it will list if if the nutrients and pH or soil acidity is in the optimum range for boxwood. Fertilizer can be applied around March at the start of the growing season if it is needed.

You can find information for a soil test on our webpage. Let us know if you have questions about how to submit one and we can assist with the results after you receive them.
