Hi, some local kids created a fort in a way that injured the bark and sub-bark layer of three mature pine trees. The wound size is maybe half a square foot? Will this kill the trees? Is there anything we can do to support them?

Hi. I'm not sure that this is the correct place for this question but I'm going to try anyway. My name is Rebecca Gorman and I am on the board of the Orion Art Center in Lake Orion. I'm a Rochester resident and have seen the Master Gardner booth at our Farmer's Market many times. I'd like to get some information about it. Our art center hosts the Art & Flower Fair over the weekend of May 17-18 in Lake Orion -- it is a 2-day art fair with vendors, food trucks, entertainment, and lots of flowers for sale. I'm a DDPHE employee working to develop tools to map existing food production sites in Denver and to identify spaces that could support future food production. In developing an index that will help identify what land in Denver could be used for food production in the future, we are considering both policy characteristics (ownership, zoning) and physical characteristics (vacant or underutilized, soil quality, access to water, etc). I am looking to connect with someone at CSU Extension to learn more about: - which policy and physical characteristics would be ideal to include in an index to assess where urban ag could be a future use - data sources for this type of information - more generally, data sources to map existing Denver food production sites (farms, gardens, etc) Would you be able to guide me to the right person to speak with here? Hello, I am a special education teacher at a school in Bloomington. I got permission to start a new school garden this year and would love any advice on how to best set up a new garden and what flowers, fruits, and vegetables would work best for the garden. I would love some that my students could pick and eat when we come back to school in the fall. I would also be interested in having any volunteers come and speak to the school or some classes about gardening and what it entails and how it is helpful for the environment if that is something that could happen.
