I'm a DDPHE employee working to develop tools to map existing food production sites in Denver and to identify spaces that could support future food production.
In developing an index that will help identify what land in Denver could be used for food production in the future, we are considering both policy characteristics (ownership, zoning) and physical characteristics (vacant or underutilized, soil quality, access to water, etc).
I am looking to connect with someone at CSU Extension to learn more about:
- which policy and physical characteristics would be ideal to include in an index to assess where urban ag could be a future use
- data sources for this type of information
- more generally, data sources to map existing Denver food production sites (farms, gardens, etc)
Would you be able to guide me to the right person to speak with here?
Thank you!
