Greetings - would it be possible to hire a graduate student or other expert to take a look at my yard - I have some questions about what is going on in a few places.

Has there been a hard frost in Ann Arbor yet? Scheduling work from gardener to cut back some plants.

I have an (and others) amorphophallus...probably konjac, voodoo lily, devils tongue, corpse lily, corpse flower etc. that is showing signs of blooming. Since both the St. Paul Zoo and the Arb had blooming titanums which attracted much interest this spring I would like to know if I can lend this plant to the Arb (I'm a gold member) during its blooming. The plant is in a pot 18" high x 24" diameter and weighs about 60-70 pounds. The bloom is just starting-about 10" high and will reach about 5'-6' above the pot. I can two-wheel the plant to the Arb. Does the air become more polluted in the fall without the tree leaves to help clean the air? Dexter, age 7,wants to know.

It appears my huge oak tree has oak mites. The leaves falling from it have white spots and galls. See pics below. My questions: Is it okay to put the leaves in my flower beds over winter or should I get them out of my yard (bag them up and put them at the curb for the county to pick up). Basically, will the leaf pests survive over winter and re-infect my might oak?

Hi when do cutulpa trees create leaf buds in the fall or spring? This is not the flower bud I am talking about I planted a new one this year and there are no buds for laves on it now. Thanks

I have a beautiful tree that was planted about a year ago. The needles are browning toward the trunk and have definitely thinned. What is happening and what do I need to do about it?

Conflicting information regarding returning sheep to a grazing area after lime application. We spread a Pelleted Lime on a 2 acre field (1 ton). It has rested for 2 weeks and we have had some rain. Is it safe to return sheep to that area to graze? We are going to apply lime to the area they are currently grazing once they are back on the 2 acres. Thank you!

We purchased a new home in 2021 that included no landscaping in the back yard. In Spring 2022 we added landscaping which included the following trees. Crabapple Spring Snow, Crabapple Red Baron, Spartan Juniper and Blue Arrow Juniper. I was told it would be helpful to wrap the trunks of the Crabapple varieties during the winter so I have done so the past two seasons. My question is how many years should I continue this practice of wrapping the trunks? Should I do it again this year? I am including pictures of the trees so you can see the size. Additionally, I have noticed that when snow falls, it can add a lot of weight to the branches of the Spartan and Blue Arrow Junipers. I've had some branches break and others grow irregularly due to the damage from the excess weight of the snow. I do my best to go out as soon as possible to shake the snow off, but sometimes I cannot get out there very quickly. I am wondering if these Junipers could be wrapped in a way to help keep the branches closer to the trunk and prevent the snow from weighing them down. Do you have any recommendations about this? I have included a picture of the Spartan Junipers. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
