My very young Allegheny serviceberry has leaves that indicate a disease. Can you help me with both diagnosis and treatment ? Most leaves have lost a lot of their color and look faded. Also there are rusty colored spots on some. Photo shows these symptoms. Thank you for your guidance.

Thank you for writing.
I need a close up of the front and back of an affected but not dead leaf.
Also is there a nearby juniper or cyprus?

My initial impression is that this might be rust, a fungal infection.

Steve,
Here are photos of front and back of leaf.  Yes, near a juniper.  Photo shows juniper to the right of the serviceberry.
Thank you for your attention!
Paula

Yep, it is rust as per link sent earlier.  You should choose a different plant.

By "choose a different plant," do you mean that it is beyond help? Is it not possible to spray it and help it get well,?

Thank you.

I should have read more before I wrote back. I now see that serviceberry is a bad choice to have with junipers in the yard.

This serviceberry and every future serviceberry on this space is doomed.  Choose another plant.  The juniper is spindly and will not fill in.  You might consider taking both out and redesigning that corner of your property.
