I just realized my azaleas have considerable damage from lace bugs. Should I treat the plants with horticultural now, mid November, or wait until spring?

Can you offer advice for this problem? There are tree roots that have fully invaded some of my raised veggie beds. The beds are two feet deep, filled with good soil and my compost, surrounded with cedar boards, watered by drip irrigation. I cannot move the beds or the trees. 1. Do I just dig out and remove the roots each year or two? Does this work? For how long? 2. Do I dig out the roots and lay down a barrier before refilling? If so, what is the right barrier and where do I get it? I would like to tackle this problem before winter if possible. Thank you.

Should we remove the tree this fall or next spring? We have a 17 year old pagoda dogwood that we have been pruning infected branches off of for 6-7 years. It is to a point now where we want to replace it in the spring for a new one. Would it be better to remove it this fall or wait and do it in the spring? If we do it in the spring dill there be a better chance of the golden canker surviving in the soil and infecting the tree? Or, even if we do it this fall will the canker survive over the winter in the soil. And maybe we need to treat the soil with something regardless of when the tree is removed and replaced. If so, what is the best method of soil treatment? Sorry- that was a lot of questions.

My floribundas and climbing roses haven’t been pruned at all since summer. Is it wise to chop back long stems now with proper pruning in mid-February to March?

Good morning! We planted our garlic bulbs after the first frost, and we have gotten quite a bit of above-ground growth since then. Will the garlic be ok over the winter? Should we bury the tops in mulch? Right now, we have a thin layer of mulch and downed leaves on top of the garlic (but the sprouts are above that now). Thank you!

When should I cut back my red chokeberry plants?

Hello, Would vines, such as Virginia Creeper with its adhesive suckering growth be able to climb a concrete wall? Specifically if the concrete wall is ribbed. I am looking to add plants to a parking garage in Minneapolis. The garage has a concrete wall with ribs about 1" in depth with a rough edge. Would this surface be varied enough for a vine such as Virginia Creeper to grow up consistently? I would assume a panel or wire system would improve the vertical growth but have also seen Virginia Creeper growing up many brick walls without any support system. Thanks for your advice! I have a freeze dryer and a chamber vacuum sealer. When I do some freeze dried meals, particularly meals with potatoes or carrots, they taste stale when rehydrated. Some packages I have rehydrated lost there seal because of micro holes, but some did not. Age does not seem to make a difference either. Though the oldest one I had was two years. But even at six months it would still taste stale. Nothing else seemed wrong, all the meals where still 100% dry and I never got sick from them. I put in oxygen adsorber in the package could that have something todo with the taste?
