Warts on some of my carrots #890647

A few of my carrots had these wart type growths. This one was the worse. I cut off the section where the wart circled the carrot, scraped off all the other warts then steamed and ate the carrot. Tasted fine and I’ve had no reaction (so far ). Can you identify the growth? Is the vegetable still edible after removing the growth? What might I add to my soil to prevent future occurrences? Pokeweed in a Vegetable Garden #890645

Hi, We just cleared out an area of our backyard that was full of weeds, debris, etc. It included pokeweed plants. Our plan is to grow a vegetable garden where the pokeweed plants once were. Should we be concerned about growing vegetables to eat where these toxic plants once were? Please let me know. Thanks, Rob

What is this insect?? I find dead carcasses of these all over my basement. Some are three inches long. They are never upstairs and I haven’t seen them outside. This is the first live one I’ve seen. It looks to only have legs at the front, so not a millipede. Where do they come from and how do they reproduce if they just come to my basement to die???

I live six blocks north of campus.

Wasps or bees in my home #890640

I have noticed a few yellow jackets or paper wasps or bees either moving slowly or dead on the floor of my basement. Yesterday, I found one moving slowly on my lamp shade upstairs. I've noticed the occasional wasp or bee in my basement only in the last few years. Is this something I should be concerned about? And if so, what do you recommend I do? I have looked around areas of the basement but have not seen a nest. Thank you.

Hello, We are a local MN family that has been desperately trying to get rid of clover mites at two different houses for over a year now. We have tried everything and have even gone to the professionals (which don't seem to use miticide). We are now looking for help from local experts and honestly think we could make a good case study about how to get rid of them at the source permanently.
