I am wondering where I can find a lab in DC for soil testing.

Hi-- I planted five big leaf (Endless Summer) hydrangeas in front of my house in 2021. The area they are planted in admittedly is right against my house, surrounded on all sides by sidewalk/house/driveway and probably does not have the best drainage. The shrubs started out ok, but over the past two seasons they developed bad leaf spots, many leaves fell off and they did not flower well. I suspected that I had planted them too close together with poor drainage and too little airflow given they were planted against my house, so I decided to move the plants last fall. I transplanted them all to different locations in my yard and so far, they appear to be growing well and I haven't noticed any spots. I should also add I have three of the same hydrangeas on the opposite side of my porch that are thriving, but they are planted on a slope and get more shade, so I'm guessing they are just planted in a more ideal location. (In the attached photo of the house the infected hydrangeas are planted to the right) I decided to replace the hydrangeas with new ones this spring and I tried to amend the soil with compost and perlite and added extra garden soil. We also applied new mulch shortly after they were planted. I noticed that the same spots are appearing on the new hydrangeas. My questions are: -What is causing the spots? -How can I treat them if even possible? -Is the problem something having to do with the soil or location? Would you assume that any plant I put in that spot will be susceptible to the same problem? -Is there a shrub or plant you could recommend for that particular planting location? I've attached a photo showing the original hydrangeas last fall before I moved them, a photo of the new hydrangeas that are beginning to get spots as well as a photo of the flower bed where the hydrangeas are planted. I am having a problem with an encore azalea that I planted last fall. Some of the leaves were spotted and brown, I should have seen the warning signs. So now, the plant is riddled with spotted leaves that have turned yellow and then brown with only a few flowers. It looks terrible. I went out to look at it more closely this morning and it had baby spotted lantern flies that looked like baby spotted spiders. I read that dawn dish detergent and water would kill them and I sprayed it and it seemed to get rid of them. And then I sprayed something I found around the house….a Funcicide 3 from Garden Safe. Should I prepare for the plants burial? Do you think the spotted lantern flies were attracted to a dying plant or do you think they were the cause of the problem to begin with?

many of my spirea shrubs are not leafing. they are totally dead but thre few if amy leaves. they were quite healthy 2 weeks age. what should i do ? can i do any thing ?

I have a small, 150 square foot greenhouse. It has aluminum for the base three feet and polycarbonate for the the top portion. I have windows cut into one side and a dutch door on the other side to allow air flow. I struggle to keep the green house warm at night and cool during the day. it gets to over 100 degrees during the day and will drop to whatever the outside temperature is at night. I have a little heater, compost, and a rain barrel to try to keep the temperature warmer at night but it doesn't work well. Additionally, the plants sometimes burn during the day. The purpose of the green house is to extend my growing season but I have not been able to get it to work. Should I give up on the green house? Any ideas?

I live in Gaylord, Michigan and have huge patches of Creeping Bentgrass in my lawn that was established 32 years ago. I would like to treat with a herbicide but I have a well for water and don't know what to use that will not affect my drinking water? Any info would be appreciated.

Last winter our home experienced damage from a blocked city sewer line. In the process to mitigate the flood 150 gallons of sewage water was dumped onto our back yard. The snow has melted and it is spring. We would like to know if it is advisable to treat our lawn that was affcted? If so what should we apply?

How to I find out what is killing my Japanese Maple. The few leaves that are sprouting are curled and twisted. Last fall I noticed many small dead branches, however the tree mostly looked fine. I don't see any bugs on it. It has not been fed for the 4 years I have lived here. Planted some time before that.
