Hello Mike,
Thanks for reaching out to the UNH Extension Infoline. Pruning hydrangeas can be confusing, especially given all the different types!
Quick Fire is a panicle hydrangea, which is very common for both it's beautiful blooms as well as it's cold hardiness. It blooms on new growth so we recommend pruning this shrub in the dormant season- late winter to early spring (February to early April) before bud break.
