Apple and cherry tree #866856

Hi, I noticed 2 of my Apple trees that had nice amount of blossom and fruit last year this year one has very little and one has even zero (that one also has a few strange looking leaves but most leaves look healthy). That was an unexpected surprise. Is it true that some trees only bear every other year?! Or could it be anything else - just what? Nothing really changed from last year. They are in the same location etc Another apple tree is around 5 years and never fruits once so far. It has 2 other apple trees nearby that are healthy and fruiting and have very similar or almost same growing condition. Every year im disappointed that it's another year without blossom and fruit. 2. One of my cherry tree (sweet/black cherry) now had a lot of blossoms. And I see little green fruit developing. But it seems to have minor almost no leaves on some branches which seems to be strange too. And some of thedeveloping fruit looks dark instead if green. What could that be?

Hard Prune and Browning Leaves #866577

My Korean spice viburnum was growing too large for its spot, so right after it flowered for the season, I hard pruned it down. I'm concerned that I pruned it too hard, because the few remaining leaves that were once shaded by the canopy are beginning to brown. I'm not sure if this is due to the increased sun exposure and is fine, or whether the plant is struggling. Some leaves are still green. It's been about 1.5 week since the hard prune and I haven't spotted any new growth in that time.

We have a 45 - 55 degree bank that was created by some excavation work last summer. It was seeded with a conservation mix and greened up quite nicely, but the grass doesn't look llke it's coming back. I'm looking for some kind of perennial ground cover that we could use on poor soil like this. Can you give us recommendations? Thank you.

Hi there! I live in Littleton where EAB was officially confirmed last year. I have a large multi-trunk ash tree that I'd like to protect. The quotes I'm receiving are quite high (due to the size of my tree). So I'm tempted to do it DIY. I know there's a retail option (Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub) of imidacloprid. I'm guessing it's a lower concentration than what the commercial options are. It would obviously be much lower cost than having professional application. Assuming it's applied correctly, is it similarly effective?

Toxic Plants for Goats #866201

We brought home three mini Nubians a couple of weeks ago and they are ready to go out in the big-girl pasture. I did a pasture walk and pulled up some plants that could have been toxic. The internet is so confusing .....one page will say a plant is excellent for livestock and another will say it's potentially toxic. There are three remaining that I have a fair amount of and they would be difficult to eliminate. I think they are fine, but in all cases, at least one person/page says they may be toxic "in large quantities" (not sure what large quantities are). They are Common Sorrel, Sticky Mouse Eared Chickweed (Cerastium Glomeratum) and Meadow Foxtail (Alopecurus Pratensis). At least that is what Google Lens says they are. I attached pictures of two--the Foxtail wouldn't upload. Do you know if these can be harmful to goats? Thanks so much for your help.

Last summer, our peach tree, which had previously been fruitful, didn't produce any fruit. It may have been affected by a late frost or a disease, as it developed brownish spots and holes on its leaves, similar to spot hole disease seen in online photos. We didn't treat it last year. This year, I want to prevent any potential fungal diseases before the buds open. I need expert advice on the tree's current health and whether it needs treatment before spring and summer. Coddling Moth control for two mature apple trees in backyard #865734

Hello, My parents have two large mature apple trees in the backyard in SE Denver, they have had a coddling moth issue for as long as I can remember. I would love to try to keep it under control this year. In addition to trunk banding with cardboard, I'd like to spray the trees this year, can you tell me when the biofix date is? (I may be using the wrong terminology, but I was told to contact local office and ask when it was the time to start spraying in the spring). The trees are quite tall, so it is unrealistic to thin out apples up top and unrealistic to bag them (other ideas I've seen online). Do you recommend any specific spray or is a general tree/shrub insecticide ok? Thank you.

I have a 3x8 raised garden bed. Last fall I noticed some very small white worms (this size of maggots) had infested my carrots that had overgrown and split. I did not think much of it thought winter would kill them but wonder if it might be related to my current issue. Today while preparing the garden bed for planting, after stirring up the soil to add compost, I noticed several approximately 1” worms, dark in color. Nematodes?? Will this be harmful to the strawberry plants that I just transplanted to this bed? Should I be trying to eliminate the worms?

I would like to grow several different types of flower for a life event my family has coming up in October and I need help deciding what flowers to plant that will actually grow through our hot summer season. I live in Port Neches, TX, so I believe it will be very similar weather to what you have in Fort Bend County. Below I have included a list of flowers that I am currently looking at, but nothing is set in stone yet and I am very open to options and opinions. I will more than likely be growing all of these from seed and am considering containers for everything, so I believe the time to start that is quickly approaching.
