Hello, I have a heavily shaded, and moist forested area next to me filled with invasive plants. I have been slowly reducing the invasive plants footprint. What is the best way to attain native plants I can begin to backfill this space with? Do I need to just buy seeds online, or are there any local resources I can tap into?

When cleaning up the gardens we found this pile of scat. What kind of critter has been in the garden? This is at a volunteer project and the area surrounding is largely natural. There are not residential areas close by. There is field, woods and water nearby. We have an abundance of woodchucks and deer in the area. It appears that there have been several "visits" to this spot as some of the droppings appeared fresher than others, and are obviously different colors. When we poked it with a stick, the white scat fell apart and appeared to be layers of small shells. The photo with the gloved hand is just for size reference as this appears to be a rather large pile of large droppings.

Hi there, We would like to replace our liriope with native plants along the street. It's full shade due to tree canopy and needs to tolerate salt used in the winter. It would be great to have a mix, if possible. Groundcover, grasses, shrubs, etc. Some evergreen, if possible. The strip I will be working on is about 30' long x 7' in depth. The main concern is that the plants need to be salt tolerance. Any ideas? Thanks

I have a hedge in my front lawn composed of 3 shrubs. Over the past 2 years, I have found several dead branches that I’ve cut off. Starting last year, some of the branches get new leaves in the spring that then turn brown and die a few weeks later. I have attached some photos, with the last photo showing a closeup of the base of the worst shrub, where I’ve had to trim significant fed growth.

My question - are these shrubs dying and should I just go ahead and remove them? I’m thinking of replacing them with one of the Gardens in a Box from Resource Central (CO native plants) are there any precautions I should take of the shrubs are diseased? Thank you!

Hi there! My garden boxes are having a serious horsetail problem. Is there anyway to get rid of it without killing the flowers? It was present last year, but nowhere near this badly. Similarly, it is coming up sporadically in my garden boxes where we grow food. Thank you so much!

Hi, I have a park under construction in Milwaukie and we have evidence a very large amount of ground bees (miner/andrena, I believe). We are looking for some assistance with an expert identification and recommendations for safe construction. Our general contract is concerned about the safety of their employees especially a supervisor who is allergic. Photos of the bees are attached. I was able to witness them up close and very easily capture one. I did release the captured bee after getting a closer look. Do you have any recommendations? We have some deadlines we are trying to meet for grants that fund our construction, though we do want to make sure everyone is safe. Any direction you all can provide would be greatly appreciated.
