Hello, I appreciate your assistance in diagnosing my blue spruce tree. As shown in the attached photograph, the needles are brownish red and easily fall off. I planted this tree September 2023 and remediated the heavy clay soil with sand and peet moss. I also have installed mulch. The photo is showing the southern facing portion of the tree which appears worse than the north side of the tree. Based on my review of the information on this website, I am guessing it is Winter Damage. I value your opinion and appreciate any advice you can give on whether fertilizing and water will correct this problem or if I should plant a new spruce that is more tolerant to Minnesota. I started paw paw trees from seed from 1 fruit and I am ready to plant the seeslings in the ground to a permanent location. From what I read, you need at least 2 genetically different trees to produce fruit. My question is will the seeds from one paw paw fruit produce genetically different trees? Meaning should I plant my seedlings near eachother or should I look for another source for a seedling to plant with mine?

Good afternoon. I have cut down a maple tree that got out of control and was a mess. My family loves fresh fruit and we have enjoyed picking pears from neighbors trees. I thought about planting our own pear tree as I know they grow in our neighborhood. However, we have a good relationship with them... I was wondering if a peach tree would be a wiser tree to plant? We live in Roxbourough, just south of Chatfield Reservoir. How often do peach trees bear fruit? Is there a certain peach tree that would be best? I have this 9 year old dogwood tree on the Northwest side of my home that my late father planted for me. It gets lots and lots of sun. To my knowledge it’s always looked like this, so I can’t remember if there was a significant event that made it look like this, but I’m not sure if it’s normal. As you’ll be able to see the trunk looks a little diseased or injured maybe? And the blooms also don’t look very healthy. I’d love to be able to save it if possible. Can it be dug up and moved to a shadier spot safely? Does it require some remediation? The soil here is very clay like.

Hi! Our grass has died because of grubs. We want to spread preventative pesticides (per your article on the topic); however, we also used dormant seeding to plant a bee lawn last fall (per your other article!) and the grass is starting to grow. Yay! My question is can I spread the Grub BeGone on this very new grass, or will it kill it? If I can spread, should I spread now or later? I see the window for spreading the pesticide is typically mid-May to early August. Thanks for your help!

Hello, will I damage my very well established hydrangea bushes if I cut them to the ground this weekend? Some already have leaves sprouting. The bushes look ragged and I'm thinking a hard trim will give them a fresh start. Thank you.
