I have a mature Ash tree in my yard in Maple Grove. There are many roots that run along the surface of the yard. I know Maple Grove soil has a lot of clay and is dry. Is this normal? And is there anything I should do to help keep this tree healthy? Mike

Our yard has lovely OLD rhododendrons. One is not doing well. Maybe it started when my husband cut off some branches that were dying? I haven't reached out for help before, so please let me know if you need anything else.

I started work at a small garden a couple weeks ago and one of the pear trees has a large dead portion. It had darkened tips, dried shiveled portions and cracked bark. I was wondering if this is fire blight?

Should the first turf fertilizer put down in spring be the crabgrass preventer/fertilizer combo or should a round of straight fertilizer be put down earlier, before the crabgrass preventer. Turf is irrigated and clippings left on.

Hello, I had to prune several dead branches off my Japanese Lilic tree. There appears to be a green colored moss and some fungi. The tree appears to be in bad health. What is this stuff and should I just cut down the tree?

Good afternoon! The soil in my raised beds had an issue with being hydrophobic last year. I did some work this fall and winter to prep it for this year, and it seemed to have worked. However, after two days of sun and no rain, it's gone back to not accepting water. Water will just sit on top of the soil and won't seep in past the first millimeter or so of topsoil. Any recommendations on how to fix this?

NE Itasca county; Balsam area; mostly sandy soil. We have wild blackberry plants throughout our 40 acres, along trails, etc. They do not seem to produce berries. I have experimented; thinned the plants, pruned back the tops, transplanted to sunny areas, etc. What, if any, type of fertilizer can I apply to try to get these plants to produce? If you have a sugesstion, also recommend when I should apply the fertilizer. Thanks, Roy
