    Is the Iseli Fastigiate Blue Spruce susceptible to disease in MN? I was hoping to be able to plant this columnar. I need something upright that will get at least 15 ft tall and have minimal shedding. This will a privacy tree wall near an in-ground pool.

    Today I found this larvae on the ground by my house. We live on a heavily wooded lot. I did a quick search to find that it may be an invasive Longhorn Beetle. I did not notice any damaged trees with obvious holes in them. Are you able to tell me what it is and if it’s safe to put back where I found it? Thank you!

    Problems with Liriope #864785

    My daughter's variegated liriope has spots all over it. Doing some research, the two most common issues are Anthracnose and root rot. None of the pictures I saw of those issues looked exactly like my daughter's issue, though the description seemed a little like Anthracnose. Can you tell me what it is and what we should do about it please? If it's Anthracnose, Clemson says to get rid of the debris and put a fungicide on the new growth as a protective measure. Does that mean just cut back the damaged leaves or does it mean digging up and getting rid of the plants? And if we should use a fungicide, is there one your recommend (not necesarily a brand, but what should we look for)?

    Controlling Prostrate Knotweed in my lawn #864781

    With the drought the last several years, I have been getting increasing amounts of prostrate knotweed in my lawn. What is the best way to eliminate it? I have read that using a pre-emergent herbicide works best. Do you agree? I have also read that a product with the active ingredient Prodiamine (such as the product Barricade) might work, but have not been able to find that in the local stores and nurseries. (Other effective chemicals that I have seen mentioned are atrazine, dithiopyr, oxadiazon, pendimethalin and oxadiazon.) Any suggestions?

    Dealing with acres of fig buttercup #864780

    Hi there. I live in Baltimore County, adjacent to Baltimore County land which is next to the Western Run. The fig buttercups are out of control on the County land, extending over several acres. I have sprayed several gallons of Roundup each year and probably 15 gallons since the beginning of March this year and it feels like it’s barely making a dent. This can’t be the best solution. I definitely can’t dig up the bulbs since this is over so much land. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Languishing koreans-ice viburnum #864777

    This plant has been in place for over 5 years. It didn't flower at all for the first two years, although it has increased in size quite a bit. Flowering is still sparse and now leaves are curling and somewhat discolored. The site is between the porch foundation and stone patio, and in a kind of rain shadow with the porch overhang above. Will anything save this bush? I do not water it very often especially in the past three years dealing with family medical issues.

    Wood chip mulch #864774

    The strong  winds from the Foothills blew off all my mulch in Boulder in 2021. I replaced it in parts with pebbles but needed wood chips and yard waste mulch in many areas…alas, the wind has blown it off in 3 years. 

    Is there a way to spread wood chips and  yard waste mulch so it clumps on the weed fabric and does not blow away easily? Or is there an alternative

    mulch?

    Are larger or fine pebbles safer against the wind?

    I am going to grow potatoes in a tower box this year. Therefore I have been told I need to plant an indeterminate variety. I keep reading mixed reviews. I need to know if Red Pontiac is Ana indeterminate variety. Also , what about Goldrush Russet? Again, ware mixed answers as I research. Please give me a definitive answer. #864773

Is Red Pontiac an indeterminate??  What about Goldrush Russet?  Please give me a definitive answer. I have already invested a lot of money in this project and want good results.

    I have tried everything to get rid of the pantry moth infestation at my house--rmotued everything 2x, thrown away so much, sprayed everything with vinegar, tried bay leaves, but can't get rid of them. Can professional exterminators do it. I feel like getting rid of all my whole grains (all in supposedly air tight containers and living off of processed foods I am so discouraged. Is there anything we can do?
