Hello, Last Summer, I had something living/digging in my garden, never saw it, but there was a "tunel" between two squash plants and the most affected one only produced two fruits. I also noticed that a melon, zucchini and other veggies had been munched on. I heard that wire would keep them from going under my garden bed, but chicken wire is not recommended. I'm thinking I need to remove the soil from the most affected bed to add wire at the bottom and perhaps put some wire around the edges of the bed to prevent them from getting in. What is your recommendation for wire? Would my plan work? If so, would you recommend a foot of wire around the bed? My beds are about 2 - 2.5 feet tall. Thank you!

So in the year 2024 was first time I enter in Monroe county fairs open classes in the Horticulture Classes. So I been able to find the premium catalog that has all the classes and rules. It didn't have information enough information to point, I had call the supervisor of the Horticulture classes about it, and talk to the judges after they judge the classes about the information to answer some my questions. The judges and the supervisor for the Horticulture classes said there was a book or document that everyone could find that be the rules and regulations that suppose be the like big book of rules and regulations that every county fair and judges have follow for all events and classes. What is the book called or What the link to it called? I try looking for, but I ended up dead ends. I want try improve somethings by seeing what the judges are looking for, or what the items I enter are supposed to have.

After having 28 seeds sprouts and start growing this winter (72 planted) my seedlings are starting to have problems.... Mix is peat(2), perlite (1) and vermiculite (1)... room is 73 degrees... 44-50% humidity I have been 1/2 dose fertilizing with liquid (basic miracle grow) since they got their 3rd set of true leaves Seedlings have 3 - 6500k T5 LED full spectrum lights mounted 14" above soil level... seedlings range from 5-12 inches tall... Light readings from Photone: PPFD 200-400 (said i needed a diffuser but i dont have one) : DLI 10-15 : LUX 7000-14000 : CCT (Kelvin) 6600-6700 All readings taken across the grow area at half distance between pots and lights (14" from pots and lights). Seedlings range between 5" - 12" tall The Seedlings seem to be slowly drying up and shriveling to nothing... in the past 3 days the 4 smallest plants in the first picture have lost all of their leaves The only thing that I can think of is that in my concern over keeping the soil moist (so they don't dry out) I may have over watered them a bit but I don't see anything else that could be causing this too happen. I'm now down to about 10 of the 28 that seem to be healthy still but that means I have lost or are losing 18 of those that sprouted. Any help would be appreciated... thanks

Hello! I'm curious if there are ways to melt ice during the winter that are not harmful to the soil, plants, watershed etc. I want to make sure my sidewalks and driveway/steps are safe for folks with mobility concerns. Thanks!
