When should I start my tomato seeds indoors for planting outside?

Not quite yet, it's still too early; mid-March (at the earliest) would be best. Our Vegetable Planting Calendar provides guidance for seed starting and transplanting times, and the seed packet or catalog listing for the tomato seeds should also tell you how long prior to the last frost date the seeds should be sown indoors.
