Seeking a good, all purpose, safe, spray or wipe on, household cleaner #892751

Asked February 17, 2025, 11:42 PM EST

I have read that plain vinegar in water can be used for a household cleaner. If you agree that it is an effective cleaner, I'd like to ask if the 5% cooking strength is sufficient or if I should getting and stronger type and if so, what strength is appropriate for this? Thank you

We don't have OSU Extension experts that deal specifically with issues related to household cleaning, but I did find some helpful resources from our Extension colleagues at Cornell and the University of Arkansas.  Here are some articles that deal with home cleaning and green cleaning products:

Cornell Cooperative Extension: https://hamilton.cce.cornell.edu/resources/cleaning-products-you-can-make-at-home

University of Arkansas Extension: https://www.uaex.uada.edu/environment-nature/water/quality/clean-green-homemade-cleaners.aspx

Hopefully these articles can provide you with the information you need.

Thanks for contacting Ask Extension.
