I moved to Newport, Oregon last July. My lawn is full of hawkweed and not sure how to get rid of it. I'd just like nice green grass and am not opposed to using chemicals, but don't know which ones to purchase, how to apply, etc.
Thanks, Kelli Loftus

Thanks for your question about hawkweed. There are four different hawkweeds on the Oregon Department of Agriculture Noxious plants list - https://www.oregon.gov/oda/weeds/oregon-noxious-weeds/pages/default.aspx. If you have one of the hawkweeds on this list, please report it to the Oregon Department of Agriculture at 1-866-INVADER or <personal data hidden>.
With respect to controlling a broadleaf weed like hawkweed that can't be removed using physical means, you should try an herbicide with 2,4-D. This will kill broadleaf weeds and not damage the lawn. If you choose chemical control, please read and follow all label instructions. Check out the broadleaf weed section in this Oregon State Extension website - https://solvepestproblems.oregonstate.edu/lawn-problems/broadleaf-weeds
