Is a turkey pot pie left overnight in the microwave safe to eat? #891667

Asked January 17, 2025, 11:51 AM EST

This morning at work when I opened the microwave there was a turkey pot pie. I asked around and it turns out that the person who heated it yesterday for lunch, around 1 p.m., forgot about it. It was heated from frozen. I thought it was OK to eat but my coworkers convinced me to throw it away. Who was right?

Expert Response

Your coworkers were very smart to convince you not to eat it.  First of all, it was cooked food left in a warm, moist environment. Great place for bad bacteria to multiply.  It would have been risky to consume.
