We bought a 5 gallon potted dwarf albert spruce for Christmas - want to support our tree population
We kept our tree inside for 2 weeks (as research suggested), watered enough but not too much to keep the very small and fine roots moist, and sprayed need=m oil on the needles to minimize evaporation.
Now
our tree is in the garage exposed to light from a south facing window.
the pot is in a bowl with no more than 1" of water
the bowl and pot are surrounded by cloth and foam wrapping - not the branches
Should we be concerned about the roots or the water in the bowl freezing if the temp dips way below freezing - we live in Grand Ledge so this is a possibility
Please advise
Many thanks!

Good Afternoon,
I do not think it is a good idea to leave water in the pot. In an unheated structure, water may be needed as often as once every two to three weeks if temperatures are above freezing. Avoid over-watering plants. See attached for more information on overwintering your tree.
