Will a rome beauty or a Fuji apple tree pollinate a gravenstein apple?

Hi Cynthia and thanks for your question about cross-pollination of your Gravenstein apple. The tree is pollinated by honeybees and other insects, so it is important that the cross-pollinator blooms at the same time and is not more than 100 feet away from your tree.
Fuji will definitely work, depending on whether your tree is an early or late Gravenstein. Rome Beauty produces poor pollen so is not a good pollinator. Just pay attention this year to when your tree blooms (unless you already know) and you can find a self-fertile type (such as Gala, Empire, Fuji, Red and Yellow Delicious) to plant nearby.
