How do I plant lovage from seed to grow this coming summer? Does it need a cold period? What is the best location. Thank you

Hi Kris,

Lovage is a perennial  that is hardy to zone 3, so it will die back in winter and return in the spring. If you buy seeds, the instructions on the seed packet will tell you how to plant it

If you’re planting saved seed, some sources recommend putting the seed in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks before planting. Lovage does not require cold treatment but some growers feel seed is more likely to germinate if you do this.

Good luck.
