My dog got caught on a bush and chewed then ingested the stem. We need to know if it is toxic. Google ID said it might be Japanese Barberry. Does anyone recognize it?

It's very difficult from the photo you sent to properly identify the shrub. Is it possible for you to take a photo of the entire shrub (in focus) from where it (or others are still growing)? It will also be helpful to show if there are any berries and/or thorns on the branches, but we'll need a photo in focus.
In the meantime, be sure to contact your vet to see what advice/suggestions they can provide for your pet.
