Hello and thank you for reaching out to Cooperative Extension.
We would need a few more details and possibly some photographs.
Do you live in a rural area? What is next to your property? Other houses, businesses, etc. How big is the property? Do you have a septic system or are you connected to the county/municipal sewer? Are you near a water source, creek or stream? How long have you lived there and how long have the mushy parts existed? Are they all year round or only certain times of the year? Do you have anything successfully growing in this area currently, e.g., lawn, shrubs, trees, etc.
So many factors could cause wet or soggy area — a high water table in the area, underground stream, etc. or poor grading of the property.
We would need more information from you before going forward with any advice. We look forward to hearing back from you.
