Wild Turkeys #890851

Asked December 16, 2024, 5:39 PM EST

We have had visits from a female turkey in the late summer and a male late fall this year. Got videos if you are interested. Just thought it should be reported.

Expert Response

Thank you for the information, but the DNR is the agency collecting data on wild turkey sightings. The DNR has an online reporting form, though it notes January through March as the timeframe. You can get clarification from wildlife biologists at the MD Department of Natural Resources about how to report wild turkeys. An email can be sent to <personal data hidden> (especially if you want to share photos; we don't know if they can accept video files) or, if you would like to speak to someone, they have a Wildlife and Heritage Service phone number at<personal data hidden>. The phone line is staffed during regular business hours, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, except state holidays and weekends.

Other options are to report the sighting on Cornell's eBird database, or send in a photo to Maryland Biodiversity Project (usually via an iNaturalist entry, since MBP pulls much of its data from there).
