crop sharing / cash rent lease examples / rates #890811

Asked December 15, 2024, 1:00 PM EST

Have 100 acre farm in Weld County.  50/50 corn and alfalfa.  Trying to determine whether a cash rent or crop share is best option.  If crop share - what is typical share?  50/50?  Lessor will be maintaining the farm - mowing, ditch burning, etc.  Lessor will also be assisting with irrigation.  60/40 if lessor does the aforementioned?

Also, need rates for renting grain bins.

Finally, can extension office assist with calculating which is best option?

Hello!

You will want to refer to the CSU Custom Rates Survey. It can be found here: https://abm.extension.colostate.edu/custom-rates-survey/

For template leases, you can refer to Ag Lease 101, found here: https://aglease101.org/

Splits and tenant responsibilities tend to vary from lease to lease, depending on the needs of the agreement. At this time, we do not offer assistance with calculating options.
