wintering Geraniums #890703

Asked December 11, 2024, 12:37 PM EST

How do I storeGeraniums in a paper bag over winter, & when Ido I get them out & into soil again?

Scott County Minnesota

Expert Response

It is pretty easy to over winter them in paper bags. They look a bit moldy in the spring but they will recover quickly.
Plant them up when it warms up in the spring and they can go outside if there isn’t room for them inside.

Do I cut them back before putting them in the bag, or just take them out of the pot & remove the dirt?

Cut off anything that is dead. It is also fine to cut off anything that is leggy.
Thanks for the info!
