At the garden symposium a session on edibles in containers said you could grow blueberries in pots. She said they need to be put in the garage in the winter. I have a jellybean and a top hat bushes in five gallon pots. My question is when to put them in the garage, and do they need any light or water during the winter? Thank you.

There are several ways you can overwinter plants in containers like these blueberry plants.
A garage can work nicely as long as you know it will stay between 20 to 45°F. Many unheated structures can vary more widely in temperature than this getting both warmer than 45°F on sunny winter days and much colder than 20°F during the night.
Often burying the container in a protected location is more reliable.
