Garden Soil Testing and Preparation #889800

Asked November 13, 2024, 4:57 PM EST

Hello, I am an avid home vegetable gardener but have notice my production in the past couple of years has been lower than in previous ones. I suspect we've drained a number of the nutrients out of the soil but do not know the best way to go about testing the soil and making amendments if necessary. Any help you could provide about how to sample the soil, where to send it for testing, and how to go about interpreting those test results would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your question, Matthew.  We have only one testing lab in the Metro area:  https://al-labs-west.com/    Send them a sample, and, if you tell then what you're growing in the soil, and ask for recommendations for soil amendments, they'll furnish that.  Time to get those in the soil is in the fall, so no time like the present.  Good luck!
