Thank you for sharing your photos.  Capturing a photo of the insect would help provide a clearer answer to what is causing the damage, but this is sometimes easier said than done.  I’ve included some links to review on wood boring insects that may help you distinguish by reviewing the hole size and qualities of the material left outside the holes. It may be helpful to bring an expert in to your home to evaluate.  Options for management and treatments are reviewed in the links below.
