I am encouraged by the extent to which healing is occurring around this scar. Note the upward curling of the scar’s edges. The tree is attempting to seal off the opening. I also do not see any liquid/sap coming from this wound. This means that the risk of fungal infection should be low. There really is nothing for you to do at this point. Just be patient. With time, things should continue to improve. If in spring 2025 things worsen, you may want to have a professional, licensed arborist make an onsite assessment. Usually there is no charge for this.
