What kind of vine is this? #889584

Asked November 09, 2024, 12:42 PM EST

Hi!  I appreciate your time and expertise.  Could you please help me identify this vine?  I’d like to purchase more for my rock wall.  Although it loses its leaves in the fall, we love it.  Thanks again for your help and time.

Mike, thanks for contacting the Extension office. The photos of your Boston Ivy are beautiful. I can see why you'd like to keep it. It is not English Ivy which can grow twice as long and can overtake shrub, tree, and landscapes. Your Boston Ivy generally maxes out at about 50 feet, and as you are seeing, gets beautiful colors in the fall. It can be pruned back if necessary.

Below are two articles about your Boston Ivy. Thanks again for contacting Ask Extension.
