There is a hole in the ground among some vinca where these yellow bees (wasps or yellowjackets?) keep flying in and out and there are quite a few of them. The hole is about 30 or so feet from our patio. Ought I to take steps in getting rid of them?

Expert Response
I am almost certain these are yellowjacket wasps. We have a number of species in Oregon, but the good news is that they are annual species and the nest is close to collapsing naturally. Give it a few more cold mornings and the nest will die of its own accord.
