No mow lawn mix recommendations? #889277

Asked November 03, 2024, 3:47 PM EST

Hello, I am interested in a “no mow” lawn for my home. Here is one mix I was looking at: https://www.americanmeadows.com/product/grass-and-groundcover-seeds/no-mow-flowering-lawn-seed-mix?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=SEM%20NB%20-%20DSA%20-%20AMI%20-%20Product%20Pages&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwj4K5BhDYARIsAD1Ly2qOf6c0IoWl147HdTF1OtLwrmCcXBKWhMMrMa6SZV6cvIZn9UCNm8EaAq3TEALw_wcB but could really use some general guidance as to what a good choice would be, if this isn’t it. Thank you for your help!

What type of mix really depends on what look you are going for and maintenance. It also depends on your soil type.

This particular mix has English daisies in it. If you have sandy soil, they might not do well. They are native to Europe and a climate different than most of Michigan.

I don't see the seed mix on the website. It says "fescues" but it doesn't say which kinds. Some fescues get up to 2 feet tall.

I am skeptical that any seed mix will truly be "no mow", but that is a matter of preference. I personally do not like my lawn--which is really a mix of grasses and broadleaf plants--to get taller than 6 inches. You need to determine your personal tolerance to find the right seed mix.

As a public institution, we can't recommend specific brands or products. The best I can do is help guide you in making your own decision. You could buy this product and test it on a small part of your yard and decide if it works for you before investing in a larger order of seeds.
