Cottonwood Removal Help #889270

Asked November 03, 2024, 2:42 PM EST

I have 3 very large cottonwood trees on about .5 acre residential lot. They are a nuisance to my family and our neighbors and we all want them gone. All 3 are right along fence lines and/or close to a house where there is no room to just cut them down. We are currently strapped for money any looking for an inexpensive way to take down the trees. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Expert Response

We recommend you hire a certified arborist to remove trees. This website includes why to hire an arborist and a way to search for one.
Cottonwood trees are notoriously difficult to kill, often sending up extensive suckers from large root systems. Use of systemic herbicide at time of tree removal and sometimes for years afterwards is needed. Regular and persistent removal of all green growth will also exhaust the root energy and is a non-herbicide option. Discuss options about reducing regrowth with arborist when trees are cut down.
I’m sorry I don’t have a source for discount tree removal.
