Would you please id this plant for us. We think it's in the chrysanthemum family, mostly because it's blooming right now. And, it only blooms now, not at any other time. We're interested in taking cuttings.

The plant in your photo is Leucanthemum x superbum Shasta Daisy.
Shasta Daisy cultivars come in different sizes and flower forms. Previously this plant had the genus name Chrysanthemum.
The a good way to propagate Shasta Daisy is to divide the plant (like you would for a Hosta). Dividing a mature plant prevents the center from dying back.

We determined this is a Montauk daisy. Note the leaves, especially. Nipponanthemum nipponicum. Also known as a Nippon daisy.
