Greetings,

It can be difficult to diagnose what pest did what in many cases.  I found a decision tree from Iowa State that can assist with identifying what pest is digging in your yard.  You can access it here: https://naturalresources.extension.iastate.edu/wildlife/diagnosing-holes-yard

Greetings,

That looks to be a mound of debris dug out by a burrowing insect or arthropod such as ants or ground nesting bees.  If that is the case you should see the insect activity to make a positive identification.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Put diatomaceous earth immediately on it have noticed 1-3 ants will send picture of 1.

Looks like you have your confirmation.  If you wish to remove this via pesticide application, make sure to read, understand, and follow the label on the product to ensure safe usage.  The label is the law.
