Crepe Myrtle #885362

Asked September 16, 2024, 12:39 AM EDT

I have a crepe Myrtle that was plant in my front yard about 5 years ago. It gets afternoon sun and each year has grown bigger. But today I notice the limbs at covered in a white substance. It would not easily shake on the limbs. Any thoughts on what this could be and I get rid of it?

You didn't send a picture so I can only make an educated guess about the white substance on your crape myrtle.  Crape myrtle bark scale has been a problem in our area, so I think you may have crape myrtle scale.  Here is some information on these pests.  Take a look at this information to see if it matches what you are seeing on your tree.  If not, please send pictures so we can provide a diagnosis.
