Helping with invasives on property #885359

Asked September 15, 2024, 11:38 PM EDT

Hi,

I hope this isn’t an odd question or in the wrong place, but I recently came across a comment about someone’s "local conservation district" helping to remove invasive Japanese Knotweed from their yard at no cost/cheap. Although I don’t have this issue myself as I manage my garden with native plants, my neighbor’s yard is unfortunately overrun with invasive species like Japanese Honeysuckle, English Ivy, European Buckthorn, and Privet. You name the invasive, she's got it. She’s an elderly woman living alone, and even just one person helping her would be a significant undertaking.

Additionally, I live very close to Canal Park, and the Clinton River trail is also heavily infested with these invasives. Is there any way that you or someone else could assist my neighbor with her invasive species problem, or perhaps help manage the invasives in the local park or trail? I know she would appreciate more sunlight lol, she last year removed a tree but she lives alone. I've contacted my local CISMA about the trail last year, but they "needed permission" as it wasn't an easement or something so I have no idea if they helped with the trail for example. Idk who else would help lol.

Note: this is a suburb so not huge property next to river, but the trail is pretty decently sized and overgrown. Bunch of parks nearby as well.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
